Weekly Wrap

This week the Raders not only didn’t listen to my advice (!), they kept digging. (And while we’re on the subject I talked to a couple of business owners downtown who did not sign the petition. They said, depending on the musical act, Summerfest was either a normal night or a much better night for business than they’d otherwise expect. Each business is different, but this whole thing seems overblown. Still, the City should fix.)

Rant over, we move on. Turns out diet sodas are not only nasty, they may be worse for you than the real thing. Meanwhile, AdAge took a look at what we’re drinking (lots and lots of soda). This looks fun: Wine vs. Beer in St. Louis. Cheerios turns 70. Zagat takes a look at the biggest restaurant trends so far for 2011 (biergartens!). This Independence Day, don’t let meat get all the grilling fun: radicchio with olive paste and anchovies.

We’re off to the Lake for the holiday weekend, where there will be float trips and fireworks, shrimp boils and ribs. Hope yours goes off safely and well; remember the reason for the season:
