Weekly Wrap

Fridays where I end up in USA Today (Friday, Saturday and Sunday!) are usually not the greatest, but oh well. Let’s get to the weekly wrap.

Sam Sifton of the New York Times reviews Peels (one star, atmosphere “at the corner of Prep and Punk”), which prominently features a platter of ham from Burgers’ Smokehouse. “A lover’s postcard, sent from the Ozarks.” Ah, the Ozarks…we win some and we lose some, don’t we? GlobalPost, a network of subscriber-supported freelance journalists doing actual journalism around the world, uses President Obama’s Asian trip to catch up with his former schoolmates in Indonesia (and seriously, this man makes me proud). Burma continues to court goodwill in SE Asia, derision everywhere else. Rush Limbaugh can “sweat out” salt. Not convinced about GlobalPost? Check out one correspondent’s profile of Mexico City (and tell me you knew tacos de pastor were a product of Lebanese immigrants. Go ahead.).
