The roads less traveled

Eric and Joanna used the occasion of their anniversary last week to take what looks like a really amazing trip through northwest Missouri. A stop at Justus Drugstore (Eric approves) was just one highlight.

(Now if we could just get Eric to add expandable photos…the scenery looks great)

  1. You know, those photos on Blogger are supposed to be expandable, but nothing ever happens when you click on them. I haven’t figured out why. I’ve gotten to hate the Blogspot system, it’s really clunky, but have such a long history of posts that I’m loath to change to another platform. Advice?

Anyway, it was a great trip and the kind of thing that really fits our schedule. When we do take days off during the growing season, it’s generally a one-day version of this, just a loop through some part of rural Missouri with a bit of pre-research on interesting sites and a lot of just poking around for discoveries. I’ve never yet been disappointed. And we’ve only once or twice taken the interstate to either big city; we always use back roads. It adds an hour to the trip, but every minute is relaxing, safer, and interesting. No billboards, no trucks, just the real Missouri. Highly recommended.

Anyone on here know why Brunswick holds their big pecan festival at the beginning of October when pecans really start dropping in late October/early November, with the frosts? Seems odd to me, but I’m no expert.

  2. I used to use Blogger but switched to WordPress after 8 or 9 months. Blogger exported everything pretty easily, if I remember correctly.
