“Council denies Great Hangups rezoning request”

Good gravy will this never end? The final hurdle for the rezoning of the Great Hangups site was left uncleared last night when the City Council voted 5-2 to reject the owner’s proposal (and Sturtz-Nauser?). The Tribune has the goods. What ever happened to that pro-bidness wave sweeping city government?

Anyway, this is a beaut from Mayor McDavid (emphasis mine):

“We always have to think what is going to happen to this site if we don’t rezone it,” McDavid said. “We would have a dead corner in the middle of town.”

Mayor McDavid, there’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead and sir, that corner is not mostly dead, it has ceased to be.
