“Columbia schools try to enhance lunches”

The Tribune reports (again) on the work by Columbia Public Schools to incorporate more locally-sourced ingredients, veggies and beans into school lunches. Kudos for this:

Schools also will feature two special lunch days each week: “Taste It Tuesday,” which gives kids the opportunity to sample new healthy foods, and “Wacky Wednesday,” initially intended to feature a vegetarian menu.

If nothing else, CPS is doing a bang-up job of public relations on this. But on another note, I just love the blowback they got when they announced “Meatless Wednesdays.” Hysterical.
