Thank you Brandon Phillips

In case you needed a better excuse to pay close attention to the Reds-Cardinals race down the stretch this season – and you shouldn’t – Reds 2B Brandon Phillips went off the other day:

“I’d play against these guys with one leg,” Phillips insisted before the game. “We have to beat these guys. … All they do is bitch and moan about everything, all of them, they’re little bitches all of ’em.”

He also was quoted as saying, “I really hate the Cardinals. Compared to the Cardinals, I love the Chicago Cubs. Let me make this clear: I hate the Cardinals.”

Umkayyy. So last night Yadi and the Cards let Cincinnati know what they thought of all that, taking them down (again), 8-4. They play again today at noon.

On a side note: those tickets I bought for the Reds-Cardinals series at Busch in a few weeks are looking even better now.

Side note #2: Since the Cubs are going to suck, oh, forever, we need the Reds. Thank you Brandon Phillips.

  1. The fact that poor Brandon has one hit in 9 AB for the first two games is an added bonus. Apparently his two legs aren’t getting it done. He wasn’t defended by Scott Rolen, the acknowledged team leader in the Reds’ clubhouse, spoke volumes in my opinion.
