Local and tasty getting easier all the time

Columbia Farmers Market is adding locations. Some details provided in comments by Eric Reuter:

I just heard from the market manager on the double-church question. Forum Christian Church will be the southern market location this year (opening this Thursday), while Rock Bridge Christian Church is intended as the indoor winter market location. Hope that clears up the question.

Emphasis mine. The Ashland market on Thursdays is pretty paltry (though the bbq is pretty good), so I may have to stop off at Forum Christian Church tomorrow evening.

  1. I (and many others) will be interested to see how this goes. There’s an obvious need, but it’s still a risk for the vendors who open this market. It’s a feedback loop either way; if you don’t get enough vendors initially, customers won’t feel it’s worth it and won’t talk it up. If you get too many vendors, no one will make any money because they’ll be spread too thin. So I hope the balance is right, and that sales are good enough for the brave souls opening the first few markets.

Long-term this is good, but the startup is a tightrope walk.

  2. I too would love to know how it went today. Also, I didn’t notice hours listed above….what are they for future reference?

  3. According to the CFM site hours will be 4-6. I too had hoped to stop by but had a previous engagement. Anyone make it?

  4. Talked to a few folks at CFM this morning, conclusion seems to be 8 vendors inc. meat, produce, eggs, strawberries, and around 150 customers. Not too bad for 3-days notice.
