Summer scheduling

A few events and dates you should keep in mind:

  • June 5 – Newman Farm’s “Inside Out” event should get special consideration. Sure, Myrtle’s a long-ass drive from Columbia, but little I did last year was as much fun as this. Taking in the hog-butchering is optional, the food, scenery and hospitality are not. Go.
  • June 12-13 – The Farm to Table Festival at Mizzou is assembling a real all-star cast including some guys named Cyr and Odette (hat tip Ryan)
  • Slow Food St. Louis is hosting their “Art of Food” benefit July 24 and “Lambstravaganza,” a members-first event of unknown timing (to me).

What am I missing?

I am a married father of two. I graduated from Rock Bridge High School and then Mizzou before spending six years in the Washington, D.C. area. We returned to Columbia, Missouri in 2006.

  1. Scott, or anyone else of course, would you have a suggestion for where I could purchase a Berksire hog here in central MO. I would love to raise one for my own consumption, but am not sure where to locate one. I don’t recall seeing Berksihire’s at any sale barns I have visited. Any suggestions?
