Food happenings

  • From April 21-23 Osage County is going to play host to “Capitalizing on your Community’s Heritage,” a conference for local producers and economic developers interesting in leveraging the growing public interest in local products.
  • The Newmans will once again lower the boom on porkaholics from Missouri (and Memphis) this summer. Mark your calendars boys and girls, and get thee to southern Missouri for the Newman Farm University, June 5. It’s a blast and you’ll eat really well too.
  • Columbia’s culinary students kicked some at the Skills USA State competition last week:
We are proud to announce our top placing culinary students that attended Skills USA State this week.
Rachel Koppelman – 1st place Culinary Arts (RBHS Student)
Meghan Hardman – 1st place Commercial Baking (RBHS Student)
Sarah Brodhead – 2nd place Commercial Baking (HHS Student)
Jackson Portell – 2nd place Culinary Arts (HHS Student)
These students did a tremendous job and have spent countless hours practicing.  Rachel and Meghan will attend the Skills USA National Convention the last week of June for their shot at the national title.
We will keep everyone informed about upcoming fundraisers to help send them to Nationals.
Thank you for your support,
Brook, Carri and Jeff
