Best of Columbia

Anytime a poll has El Maguey as the best Mexican restaurant in town (albeit by plurality), you know what you’re dealing with. But mostly, Inside Columbia‘s list is reasonably close to the mark. First, Taqueria El Rodeo comes in second – no small feat considering it has one location and a potentially challenging menu. That’s a plus.

Sycamore and the Wine Cellar and Bistro (among others) take some slights from lesser but arguably more democratic stalwarts like Addison’s and Flat Branch.

And the fact that Bambino’s and The Pasta Factory are virtually tied for second place (behind also mediocre Sophia’s) for “Best Italian” speaks to that cuisine’s inexcusable absence from this town.

But still, not awful results so far. If you haven’t, go vote.

  1. Scott,
It’s hard for me to give the Best of Columbia awards much credence given that Inside Columbia accepts advertising dollars from many of the businesses that are nominated. Most legitimate organizations in the wine business eschew even the of a conflict of interest by not accepting advertising dollars at all; a notable exception is Wine Spectator.

  2. Inside Columbia is useless dribble and the Best of Columbia polls are a joke. The Tin Can Tavern is listed 2nd for best beer menu, are you f’ing kidding me?

  3. Yes Jamie, the Tin Can results are absurd. Agreed there. On the other hand, Amy Hemeyer, who cuts my hair, is in second for best hairstylist. So not all bad. 😉

  4. Sophia’s as best Italian? Really? Weird…

The whole list minus a couple things is just…weird. Why are all KOMU people winning? Their top weather guy isn’t even a real meteorologist.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled blog reading…
