Hannibal, Mo.

I’ll be in Hannibal overnight for work Thursday and could use a couple good dining recommendations there. As luck would have it, my visit corresponds with the National Tom Sawyer Days festival – and a Hannibal Cavemen homestand. Scores all around.

  1. Scott – a few years ago, we ate at a very good BBQ place just outside of town on the highway. Seems like it was called Smokehouse? We liked it.

Stay away from Bubbas, the place near the river. Although I loved the old riverboat warehouse ambience, service was crummy and the food was only so-so.

  2. Bubba’s & Smokehouse are closed. Bubba’s flooded last year and Smokehouse closed shop. There is a really good Italian joint downtown called The Brick Oven. It is highly recommended.
