Obama’s First 100 Days

It’s a bit of a business/CEO cliche – and certainly is in presidential circles – but the first 100 days of any leadership position do matter. It sets the tone, and there’s a reason we say you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

I don’t have the financial qualifications to grade his performance on economic matters yet (though no one who does seems to know exactly what’s going to happen either), but I can say he’s demonstrated competent, steady leadership. He’s moving slower on a number of issues (torture, Gitmo, environment) than the lefties would like, but I find that encouraging too. I have been impressed – and no one’s buying the Limbaugh/Renee Hulshof b.s. about buyer’s remorse; Obama’s been as-advertised or better. This may be the first president in a long time with a base comprised of centrists.

I give him a B+.
