Everybody wants to be Mark Bittman

Or maybe it’s just me. But isn’t this piling it on a little bit?

Yesterday [Patricia Wells] and I went for a run in Luxembourg Gardens just after dawn, then shopped in the market at Boulevard Raspail, where she bought scallops and Camembert. We’d already agreed to have dinner at her house…

We started with almonds, hazelnuts and pumpkin seeds, all from Provence, all roasted and salted by her. (The pumpkin seeds were the best I’ve ever tasted, but I have no idea why, since her roasting method is typical. Must be the seeds themselves.) Olives from her property, cured by her (these too were amazing). Tiny pieces of mozzarella with tiny pieces of truffles.

More Parisian travel candy here.
