Ye olde church chili contest

Being the mega-celebrity that I am, I get a lot of requests to judge cooking contests.* This Tuesday brought a chili cookoff at my parents’ church. Interestingly enough, Mizzou basketball player J.T. Tiller (#4 above) was one of the other judges.

Seems like a bright kid. Smiles, eye-contact, the ability to speak like a grown-up…you know, the stuff most college kids are still working on. It appears that sampling thirteen chili entries the night before did not hurt his game versus K State (15 pts., 6 rebounds, 6 assists).

Most of the chili was pretty good – including several vegetarian and gluten-free entries. And in a strange coincidence (or is it), my mom’s chili was one of my favorites in the blind tasting. Awww.

* Okay, one.
