Westward ho for Five Guys

I have been accused of caring more about food than a healthy person should, and this probably seals the conviction. The above picture, encountered on the RFT’s excellent Gut Check blog, brought a tear to the eye and made my heart go all pitter-pat. Anyone who has lived in Northern Virginia over the last quarter-century knows why. Five Guys makes the best burgers ever, served with fries that are even better.

They’ve followed us west in the years since we moved back to central Missouri. First to Kansas City, now one has opened in St. Louis. Their franchise model requires owners to build at least three locations in a given market, part of an effort to guarantee they have the financial backing to run the place successfully. For that reason I’m not hopeful for any Columbia outposts anytime soon, but burger fans now have something else to look forward to in the big cities.

Seriously, anyone else had these before?
